What we build

Our own products. We're a product studio at heart. Right now we're building our first SaaS application — designing, engineering, and running it ourselves, end to end. We'd rather ship one thing we're proud of than ten things we're not.

Custom work, selectively. Alongside our products, we take on a few custom projects for small businesses: the scheduling tool, the inventory system, the internal dashboard that off-the-shelf software never quite gets right. We keep the roster short so every project gets real attention.

Plain agreements. You'll always know what we're building, why, and what it costs. Scope in plain English, one point of contact, no surprises on the invoice.

How we work

Craft

We sweat the details you'll notice and the ones you won't — naming, spacing, error messages, the seams between systems. Software is a made thing, and the making shows.

Clarity

Plain language in our code, our estimates, and our email. If we can't explain a decision simply, we don't ship it.

Ownership

We stand behind what we build, long after launch. When something breaks, you talk to the person who wrote it — not a ticket queue.

Accessibility

Everything we ship works with a keyboard, a screen reader, and whatever else people actually use. It's a constraint from the first sketch, not a checklist at the end.

The founder

Brown Code is run by Nicholas Darko Brown, a software engineer whose work spans the front end and full stack of the web, with peer-reviewed research to his name.

He reads and answers every email himself.
